Budget decisions are coming down to the deadline, and Monday night will be decision time for the Hood River County School District Budget Committee. Monday’s meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Hood River Valley High School library, and public comment will be taken.

Nick Hogan has established roots in Hood River in his 10 years with Hood River County School District and hopes to remain in the community. Hogan announced his resignation this week as finance director of the school district, following a spring in which he weathered criticism over his handling of district finances. “I have come to truly love this community and it’s my hope to explore other opportunities to remain here,” said Hogan.

The next school year will have a linoleum budget for Hood River County School District. Basic carpeting might be available later. “You are looking at a budget that is the floor,” Supt. Charlie Beck told the district budget committee Monday in its meeting at Hood River Valley High School.

Hood River Valley High School Principal Karen Neitzel announced last week that she will be leaving her position as principal at the end of the school year. She has accepted a position as dean of studies at the ‘Iolani School in Honolulu, Hawaii, for the 2013-14 school year.
