A 'massive effort' as rescue crews use chain saws to recover snowboarder buried by collapsed glacier

In a first for rescue and recovery efforts on Mount Hood, chain saws were used on the White River glacier Sunday to cut away ice and retrieve the body of a 25-year-old Colorado snowboarder.

A several-day search for a climber missing on Mount Hood came to a sad end on Saturday, June 29, when the body of the climber, 59-year-old Dr. Kinley Adams, a dentist from Salem, was found near the top of the Sandy Glacier near the Hood River-Clackamas county line.
