Weekend fishing opportunities: Trout season opened in many upper Willamette basin waterbodies on Saturday, April 26. Spring Chinook fishing continues on the Willamette River. Trout stocking is in full gear at locations throughout the Willamette Valley. Spring Chinook are now moving into the Clackamas River and should be showing up in the Sandy and Santiam systems anytime. The Molalla River is in good shape for steelhead fishing.

Weekend fishing opportunities: Surplus summer steelhead have been recycled on the Clackamas River at McIver, Barton and Riverside parks. There are still a few days to go after a million dollar fish at Hagg Lake, where Cabela’s “Fish for Millions” contest continues through July 7.

Weekend fishing opportunities: The McKenzie River above Leaburg Lake will be boat-stocked this week from Forest Glen Landing near Blue River to Goodpasture Bridge with a total of 8,450 legal- and larger-sized rainbow trout. Progress Lake in Beaverton was stocked June 7 with 600 “pounder-plus” rainbow trout. Fishing is fair to good for spring Chinook and summer steelhead on the Sandy River.

Weekend fishing opportunities: The McKenzie River below Leaburg Lake will be boat-stocked this week from Leaburg Town Landing to Hendricks with a total of 5,900 legal- and larger-sized rainbow trout. Progress Lake in Beaverton was stocked June 7 with 600 “pounder-plus” rainbow trout. Fishing is fair to good for spring Chinook and summer steelhead on the Sandy River.

Weekend fishing opportunities: The McKenzie River above Leaburg Lake will be boat-stocked this week from Finn Rock to Goodpasture Landing with a total of 9,200 legal- and larger-sized rainbow trout. Progress Lake in Beaverton was stocked June 7 with 600 “pounder-plus” rainbow trout. Quartzville Creek will be be stocked this week with 2,000 rainbow trout with opportunities to catch some nice wild cutthroat trout as well. Fishing is fair to good for spring chinook and summer steelhead on the Sandy River.

Weekend fishing opportunities: Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will host a Family Fishing event on Saturday, May 18 at Mt. Hood Pond in Gresham from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fishing at this location is restricted to youths 17 and under and persons with disability fishing permits. Spring chinook fishing has slowed down in the lower Willamette River but persistent anglers are still catching a few fish. Steelhead fishing is fair on the North and South Santiam and spring chinook are starting to arrive in the system. Steelhead are being caught in the Town Run of the Willamette in the Eugene-Springfield area. Steelhead fishing is fair on the Clackamas River. Anglers are starting to pick up a few spring chinook on the Sandy River. Trout stocking is in full swing around the Willamette Valley and Portland metro area. Sites scheduled for stocking this week: Faraday Lake, Huddleston Pond, Small Fry Lake, Alton Baker Canal, Big Cliff Reservoir, Breitenbush River, Detroit Reservoir, Foster Reservoir, Leaburg Lake, McKenzie River, Quartzville Creek, Santiam River NF above Detroit Lake, Sunnyside Park Pond, Timber Linn Lake, Trail Bridge Reservoir, Waverly Lake, and the Coast fork of the Willamette River.
