HOOD RIVER — “The dogs depend on us,” said Michele Thomson, a volunteer and board member with HRAAD. Hood River Adopt-A-Dog (HRAAD) is the only animal shelter serving Hood River and White Salmon and has been providing care and adoption services for almost 20 years. HRAAD keeps dogs current on vaccinations, makes sure they’re all spayed and neutered, and provides micro-chips.

THE DALLES — Wasco County commissioners voted Nov. 5 to pledge $50,000 to the Columbia Gorge Humane Society, offering a short-term lifeline to the region’s only major animal shelter while insisting that the city of The Dalles share the cost, and that a more permanent funding fix be found.

Home At Last Humane Society brings its Pars For Paws Golf Tournament to The Dalles Country Club Saturday, July 13. Tee off is at 1:30 p.m., followed by dinner and raffles. Tickets are $125 per player and include 18 holes, cart, and dinner. Sign up by July 10.

Due to recent theft and vandalism involving the Home At Last can and bottle donation trailers, we are now asking people to please bring their refundable cans and bottles to the animal shelter if possible. The best time to bring them is Monday through Saturday before 5 p.m.
