Coral bleaching has been in the news a lot. While the name sounds relatively harmless, bleaching events can indicate long-term damage to reefs around the world and rapid worsening of the ocean environment.

Spring brings blooming flowers, with the ridges around us quickly turning green and then flushing yellow. We are already surrounded by this surge of new plant growth and the photosynthesis that powers it. Increasing photosynthesis depends on several factors, most importantly the amount of sunlight available, carbon dioxide (CO2) levels and temperature.
