The Dufur Rangers finished the second half on a 34-31 run, but the Ione Cardinals had already built a 30-15 halftime lead to turn in a 61-49 triumph Saturday in Big Sky girls’ basketball play in Ione.
Don’t look now, but the Dufur Rangers are on a roll with a three-game winning streak to move into a three-way tie for second place in the Big Sky Conference after a 52-38 road victory at Condon on Saturday. The Lady Rangers led 21-18 at the half, and broke open that slim cushion with runs of 16-12 and 15-8 to put the Knights away.

DUFUR – Never in her wildest dreams did Dufur senior Chloe Beeson think she would take home Player of the Year honors. It was a humbling award she shares with her teammates and first-year coach Kristin Whitley.

MORO – After a 20-win campaign and a No. 2 seed at last season’s Big Sky Conference, the short-handed Lady Redsides were dispatched from postseason contention with back-to-back sweep losses. Saturday in Moro, No. 8-ranked South Wasco County was singing a redemption song following sweeps of Sherman and Dufur on its way to its first-ever volleyball district championship.
