Hood River’s Adam McCaw won Electrathon America’s race this weekend in Mapleton, Ore., and is now tied for first place overall with Willamette High School’s Nick Smith.

For the first time since competing in the Electrathon America electric car racing program, a Hood River Valley High School racer, Adam McCaw, claimed the overall first-place title after the final race of the Northwest series last weekend.

A block of downtown Hood River streets will be closed for a few hours Saturday morning as racers from across the state compete in the annual Hood River Apple Open Electrathon Car Rally. The race, of high school students and adults, will take place on a half-mile stretch of street in the Columbia/Industrial Avenue area of town circling the Full Sail Brewing building.
