Private investigator Clifford Dee returns in Clifford’s War: Redivivus, the third flagship novel in J. Denison Reed’s bestselling thriller series. Following the events of Without End, Clifford is unexpectedly pulled away from his team in Washington, D.C. to help locate missing family members of an old acquaintance. What appears at first to be a straightforward missing-person case soon becomes something far more dangerous.
When Grace Dillenger’s ex-husband Raymond takes their daughter Hadley on a long-promised trip and both disappear en route to a mountain lodge, Grace turns to Clifford for help. As Clifford follows a trail of wreckage, half-truths, burner phones, compromised allies, and hidden networks, the case expands into a mystery filled with personal stakes and conspiratorial danger.
Redivivus blends missing-person suspense, crime fiction, investigative adventure, and conspiracy thriller elements into a fast-moving story that tests Clifford’s instincts, loyalty, and resolve. As he digs deeper, old memories and long-buried trauma begin to resurface, especially when he reconnects with someone from his past. Forced to confront his own demons while navigating an increasingly treacherous investigation, Clifford must determine who can be trusted before the danger consumes everyone involved.
Literary Titan praised the novel as “a missing-girl thriller with a conspiratorial afterburn that’s hard to set down,” noting Reed’s strong ensemble cast, tactile atmosphere, and propulsive storytelling. The review also compared the book’s spirit to the work of Brad Thor, early David Baldacci, and Harlan Coben, making it a strong fit for readers who enjoy capable teams, personal stakes, and thrillers that expand beyond their initial premise. BestThrillers.com says the book is, “A powerful abduction thriller where escalating danger and rare emotional depth create a dark page-turner that shouldn’t be missed.”
A missing girl. A buried past. A conspiracy waiting in the snow.
