""Lawns in this part of Florida do not take the winter off, and neither do we," said Eric Sheetz, Owner at Made in the Shade."Made in the Shade, a Lakeland landscaping and lawn maintenance company founded in 1997, has outlined the residential services it provides across Central Florida as it approaches its thirtieth year of operation.
Lakeland, United States – October 20, 2026 – Made in the Shade, a landscape management company based in Lakeland, Florida, is approaching its thirtieth year of operation and has detailed the range of lawn maintenance and landscape services it provides to property owners in Lakeland and the surrounding Central Florida area. The company was established in 1997, according to information published on its website.
The company divides its work into recurring maintenance and one-time installation projects. Recurring maintenance covers lawn mowing, weed control, hedge maintenance and plant pruning on a scheduled cycle. Installation work covers sod laying, mulch installation and landscape design for properties being renovated or newly planted. All services are listed on the company website.
Scheduling is handled by phone or through a contact form on the website, and the company assesses a property and provides an estimate before maintenance work begins, according to the company. Ongoing clients can settle invoices through an online billing portal linked from the site, which removes the need for mailed payments between visits.
Made in the Shade has been recognized as Lakeland's Best Landscaping Company for three consecutive years, according to information published on the company website. A customer testimonial published on the same site describes the attention to detail applied by the company's technicians during mowing work.
The service mix reflects the demands of the Central Florida climate. Warm temperatures and heavy summer rainfall mean turf grass in Polk County grows for most of the calendar year rather than entering a long dormant season, so mowing, edging and weed suppression run on a near-continuous schedule. Property owners who let maintenance lapse over the wet season often face thicker weed pressure and thinning turf that requires sod replacement rather than routine care.
"Lawns in this part of Florida do not take the winter off, and neither do we," said Eric Sheetz, Owner at Made in the Shade. "Keeping a property on a steady schedule through the rainy months is what separates a yard that needs a trim from a yard that needs replacing."
The company operates primarily in the residential market, serving homeowners in Lakeland and nearby communities. Landscape management remains a fragmented local industry in which most operators serve a defined service radius, and companies that survive multiple decades in one market typically do so on repeat maintenance contracts rather than one-time projects. Made in the Shade has served the Lakeland area under the same name since the late 1990s, according to information published on its website.
