Now delivering across the Emirates, Bifid's fiber-first, low-starch range is built for the desert's hardest-working horses—where up to 9 in 10 competing endurance Arabians battle gastric ulcers.
The hidden cost of elite performance
The UAE is the global capital of endurance racing, where Arabian horses cover vast distances across demanding desert terrain. But that intensity carries a well-documented price: between 60% and 90% of endurance and Arabian horses in competition suffer from gastric ulcers, driven by hard training, travel stress, high-starch feeding, and long gaps between meals. In the Gulf's heat, heavy sweating and electrolyte loss add further strain to an already sensitive digestive system.
- 60–90% of competing endurance / Arabian horses have gastric ulcers
- High starch is a leading, modifiable ulcer risk factor
- Forage-first feeding is the vet-recommended defence for ulcer-prone horses
Built for the desert athlete
Arabians evolved on sparse desert diets and thrive on fiber, not grain. Bifid's grain-free, low-sugar/low-starch feeds lean into that biology — replacing high-starch concentrates with highly digestible fiber to support a calmer, more resilient gut; steady slow-release energy; and consistent condition through hard training in a punishing climate. Veterinarians consistently point to reduced starch and forage-first feeding as front-line defenses against ulcers; Bifid is designed around exactly that principle.
What stables are reporting
Owners and yards report steadier digestion, fewer upsets, and less reliance on standalone gut supplements after switching to Bifid, with some reporting savings of hundreds of dollars per week across their strings.
"Bifid products have made my horses feel different, look different, perform different. I battled with feeds for many years but finally found that starch is the ingredient you should avoid at all costs. Switching to Bifid feeds saved my horses." - Nadin, Emirates Equestrian Centre
European heritage, championship standards
Bifid brings its line (established 2020) together with established European equine brands — Höveler (since 1905), Derby (since 1956), equinova (since 2003), and derbymed (since 2006) — offering UAE owners nutrition backed by more than a century of formulation science.
