(BPT) - The holidays can be a whirlwind of decorations, festive gatherings and to-do lists, but while you're rushing from one celebration to the next, your pet is also experiencing the season in their own way. 1. Make sure your pet has a private, safe space
Holiday gatherings can be stressful for pets. Platters of food and treats and lots of unfamiliar people and noises can be especially overwhelming. No matter where you are — home or traveling — make sure they have a place they can retreat to when they need a break. For example, you can put your dog's bed or crate in a quiet area away from the festivities to give them their own space.
2. Try to keep your pet's regular routine
Do your best not to deviate from your pet's normal schedule. Dogs especially thrive on routines, so if you're traveling with your dog, remember to pack any supplies you might need for their activities and care, including food and medicine, bowls, toys, crate and bed. You can also attempt to keep walks, potty breaks and playtimes consistent no matter where you are.
3. Keep their nutrition consistent
When you're traveling, away from your pets, or their typical schedule is disrupted, it can be normal to feel a bit of guilt.
