STEM Education is on the Rise in America’s Afterschool Programs

(StatePoint) Millions of people are concerned that artificial intelligence (AI) and other technological advances will take away the jobs people need to support themselves and their families. But a new study finds that many more afterschool programs are providing STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education to prepare children and youth for the workforce of the future.ping

The study from the Afterschool Alliance, “Afterschool STEM Takes Off,” finds that 92% of parents of afterschool students now say their child’s program offers STEM learning – a significant increase from a decade ago. But access for students in rural communities and low-income families is lagging, and more than three in four children and youth whose parents want afterschool programs for them are not enrolled at all.
