Vandi Kaye Ellett Fisher, who was born in The Dalles Oregon on September 18, 1959 died accidentally on February 1, 2015, in Washington. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Michael M. Fisher and their daughter, Rachel Lee Fisher, a student at Boise State University in Idaho. Locally she is survived by her sister, Vickie Ellett and Tyrell Edling, two brothers Vance E. Ellett and Linda Olson Ellett, Victor J. Ellett and their families and her mother Loretta Stout Ellett. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in the extended Ellett-Stout families, and her many friends which include Patricial Hainline Villalonga; Vancouver WA, and Pat Weidnaar of Brush Prairie, WA. Vandi Fisher is also survived by members of the Michael Fisher family which includes his brother Thom Fisher, his sister Susan Fisher Clarke, and his step-father Harry Alsentzer and their families.
Vandi was preceded in death by her beloved son Tyler James Fisher on May 15, 2014 and her father James M. Ellett and her mother-in-law Lee Alsentzer, both in 2002.
Vandi Ellett Fisher graduated from Wahtonka High School and Chaminaud University in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she met Michael Fisher, a University of Hawaii student. She later completed an international degree in eye care and worked at the OHSU Casey Eye Clinic for over 25 years. In her high school and college years Vandi worked in many western states with her family on power line access road construction job sites. She was a fearless downhill skier and a certified NAUI scuba diver making many trips to Mexico and the Caribbean Islands. She also studied in Spain, and traveled to Africa, Europe, Canada, and Chile and Brazil in South America. As her children were growing Vandi took beautiful pictures, maintained a gorgeous yard and garden, she loved to cook, shop and decorate. She liked walking with friends and relaxing in the sun, especially in Maui. She loved the water but not to swim.
She attracted friends like a magnet her entire life. No one ever left her without a gift – a book, a flower, a plant something to eat or drink or some other small token of her love. She was totally generous with her time and she never passed by an animal or human without giving them a helping hand.
Vandi Ellett Fisher has left her entire family and her many wonderful supportive friends devastated with broken hearts.
