Theodore R. Carlson

Ted passed away at the age of 93 in The Dalles, Ore., at The Springs Assisted Living facility. He was born the fifth of seven children to Hulda and Arthur Carlson in The Dalles. He attended schools in The Dalles and after graduation entered the Merchant Marines at the onset of World War II. He had many adventures and misadventures while in the Merchant Marines, somw that he shared in The Dalles Chronicle after a memorable trip to Washington DC with The Honor Flight.

His sister introduced Ted to her friend, Cleo Snyder-Laffoon, and they were married June 2, 1946, after his return home. They moved to the family ranch at Kent, Ore., where they lived until Cleo’s death on her birthday, Aug. 23, 2006. Ted and Cleo raised three children, watching them play sports, and participate in 4-H and FFA. After retirement, they traveled and spent many winters in Yuma, Ariz., golfing, swimming, and enjoying the sun and the camaraderie of new and old friends.
