Long time resident of The Dalles, Sue Hope Ferguson, passed away in Troutdale, Ore., on the morning of Monday, March 14, from a brain tumor. She was 83. Born in Elgin Township, Ill., Sue was raised in Sandpoint, Idaho. After graduating high school, she married at the age of 19 and traveled the country with her husband Bill.
They had 6 children together. Sue had various occupations throughout her life, as well as being a full-time homemaker. In 1987, they retired to The Dalles, Ore.
Sue enjoyed writing and was an avid reader throughout her life, with interests in the world's mysteries and things unknown. Also an artist, she did acrylic painting most days. She had started a new painting of a hummingbird the day before her passing.
She is survived by her spouse of 65 years, Bill E. Ferguson, her children, William Grant, Brenda Sue, Roger Lee, John Stewart, Joseph Lilbern, and Opal Marie. Sue had twelve grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a handful of younger friends who adopted her as their grandmother. Sue, the seventh child from a family of 9 living children, has three remaining siblings; Charlotte, Earl, and June. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Sue's memorial service was held at The Gresham Manor in Gresham, Ore., on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Her cremated remains will be scattered at the farm where she was raised, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Sue will be missed by all who loved her and those she touched during her lifetime.
