Robert Clair Peickert, 70, a resident of The Dalles, passed away at his home on Saturday, November 1, 2014. He was born on January 9, 1944 in Browns Valley, Minnesota as the second of three children to Garis Robert and Gertrude Marie (Feeks) Peickert.
He was raised in Browns Valley, The Dalles and Moro, graduating from Sherman County High School in 1962. He met Patricia “Patty” Jeanne Miller and they married on May 1, 1965 at Zion Lutheran Church in The Dalles.
Robert served in the Army National Guard for six years and then became a Fee Appraiser for the local banks in Portland and The Dalles. Robert was also a member of the Mid-Columbia Car Club and enjoyed working with old cars, guns and radios.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patty Peickert; his daughter Stacey Marie Grant and his son-in-law Lewis Grant, both of Gresham; two grandchildren, Jordan Vincent Brennan of The Dalles and Mariah Reanna Brennan of Gresham; one unborn great granddaughter; his brother Stanley A. Peickert of Salem, his sister Pamela Dalby and brother-in-law John Dalby, both of Hillsboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Robert Vincent Peickert, who died in 1984.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Private interment will be held at Moro Cemetery.
