Richard G. Stoaks

Richard G. “Dick” Stoaks, 76, of Fulton, Missouri passed away on December 8, 2014 of heart failure. A celebration of life will take place in Oregon, in the summer of 2015.

Dick was born April 16, 1938 in Portland to Kenneth and Victoria Stoaks who preceded him in death. He lived in Pendleton as a young child and joined the boy scouts. He loved to hang out at the barber shop and listen to the men conversing. In 1948 the family moved to The Dalles where Dick earned his spending money as a paper boy. He enjoyed building snow forts with his school friends and sledding down Trevitt St. when it snowed. While in high school in The Dalles, Dick played varsity football and basketball. He was Student Body President, Hi-Y President, and co-captain of the football team. He graduated from The Dalles High School in 1956. After high school, Dick attended Willamette University, where in addition to his studies, he played on the basketball team. In 1958 he joined the Army and served in Army Intelligence. He graduated from the Army Language School in 1959 and served in Korea. He later attended Southern Oregon College where he graduated with a BA in business. He lived in the Portland area for most of his life, working as a CPA and cheering for the Oregon Ducks football team. He moved to Missouri in 2007.
