Mildred was born into the farming life on 15-Mile Creek near The Dalles, Ore. to William and Maude (Holmes) Remington.
In her early teen years, she began working with Mae Wagenblast, cooking and feeding harvest crews. Mildred attended Fairbanks School (a one room schoolhouse.) There she met her future husband, Earl Wagenblast. She graduated from The Dalles High School.
Mildred and Earl continued farming until they retired and moved into the home they built in The Dalles. Her flowers and garden were extraordinary on the farm. When she got to town it was her dearest passion and love. She had a green thumb—a stick stuck in the ground would grow for her!
While feeding farm crews and raising her gardens, Mildred also raised three children. She was active in 4-H and numerous community organizations. She loved attending the community dances and waltzes with Earl. Mildred was an avid pinochle and card player.
She has now joined the love of her life, Earl. Survivors include her children, Bill (Virginia) Wagenblast, Linda (Tom) May and Tim (Marian) Wagenblast; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
Mildred was looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday with family and friends.
We appreciate all the loving care given to Mildred and her family by Heart of Hospice, as well as the staff of Footsteps at The Springs at Mill Creek. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Heart of Hospice at 2621 Wasco St., Hood River, Ore. 97031.
Mom, you will be forever in our hearts and greatly missed.
