Maxine Jerene Enterline

A third-generation Southern Oregonian, Maxine was born and raised in Lee Valley, Oregon. Her ancestors were part of the founding pioneers of Lee Valley when it was known as The French Settlement. Her parents are the late Mac Wesley Gant and Lillian Grace Gant (née Clinton). Raised on the family dairy farm, she graduated from Myrtle Point High School in 1939.

On March 14, 1947, Maxine married George Enterline in Coos Bay, Oregon, enjoying a 62-year marriage. They moved to Maupin, Oregon in 1954 where they raised five children better known as “The Enterline Kids.” Always on the go, Maxine was an exemplary mother and an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer. In her forties, she went to work at the Forest Service where she was hired as part of the first crew of women to plant trees. She loved the outdoor job. In 1980, after their children were grown, George and Maxine moved to The Dalles, Oregon, happily residing there through retirement. In 2004, they moved to Round Rock, TX with their daughter and her husband, spending their elderly years there.
