Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Maryanne Schrader, 69, a long time resident of TD passed away December 21, 2015 at MCMC due to complications stemming from diabetes.
Raised in Stanfield, OR and a graduate of BMCC in Pendleton, Maryanne married and moved to TD in 1966 to start her family. Throughout life, Maryanne enjoyed volunteer work for many local organizations including the Jaycees and American Legion, where many in town remember her as the Santa Claus in the JC Penney parking lot in the 1970s and 80s, as well as other locations around town. She was also a longtime member of the Moose Lodge where she was a Third Degree member and held many officer positions throughout the years.
Besides volunteering, Maryanne loved to help people and hated to see anyone go hungry. She got involved and eventually ran the Windy River Gleaners, which helps feed the less fortunate in our area, for 25 years. In 2011, Maryanne received the Hunger Buster award from the Oregon Food Bank for her hard work feeding others and is one of he proudest achievements.
She is survived by 5 children, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A memorial for Maryanne will be held at the Portage Grill/Shilo Inn Ballroom Saturday, Feb 6th at 12pm.
