Mary was born in Prineville, Ore., the second of four children to Howard Finch Swaim and Celia Mary Lytle Swaim. Mary’s father died suddenly in 1958. When Celia married Raymond W. Doty in 1961, the family moved to The Dalles, Ore., and Mary gained four step brothers and sisters.
She graduated from The Dalles High School in 1965, attended George Fox College and Portland State University. Most of her career was in the insurance business in bookkeeping and office management in the Portland area. She, along with Donna Crawford, operated an Adult Foster Home f in Oregon City for many years.
Survivors include Donna J. Crawford, friend; Philip Dean Swaim (Sheila), brother, Mosier, Ore; Jeremy Samuel (Stephanie) Swaim, nephew, Montana; step-siblings Denice Henshaw (Keith), Portland; Raymond Curtis Doty, Oregon City; Estlie Emery, Washington; many step nieces, nephews and treasured friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, step-father, two brothers (Sam and Tom), and a step-sister.
Memorial Service will be March 11, 11 a.m. at the Oregon City Evangelical Church, 1024 Linn Avenue, Oregon City, Oregon.
