After a long battle with cancer, Mary passed away on February 12, 2015. Mary Elizabeth McAllister Aichele was born on Saturday December 4, 1954 to Etta and Marion McAllister in the Dalles, Oregon. She was the seventh of eight children. She grew up on a farm outside Dufur and graduated from Dufur in 1973. She married Michael David Aichele in February of 1974 and lived in Bend, Oregon. They had three children.
Mike and Mary moved to Flagstaff, Arizona in 1986, where the whole family was baptized in the Baptist faith. In 1993 the family moved back to Bend, Oregon. She was a member of NALS on the national state and local level, serving as president of the local organization, Central Oregon Legal Professionals a couple times. She was a member of Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneers.
Mary's greatest joy in life was being with her children and grandchildren and all of her rather large family of nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, Jim McAllister and his wife Nikki; Jerry McAllister and his wife, Donna and another sister in law, Bev McAllister. Their son David passed in 1994. Mary is survived by her ex-husband Mike, children Christopher, wife Nicole, of Redmond; daughter Michele, husband, David Zaldivar of Coralville, IA, daughter Jennifer McAllister and partner Tory Bean of Bend. Grandchildren Lizbeth, Jaimie, Brodie, Noah, Donovan, Kayla, and Allison. Siblings Earl McAllister, wife Suzy, of The Dalles; Carol Strafford, husband Jack, of The Dalles; Dean McAllister, wife, Jerri, of The Dalles; Jack McAllister, wife Jenny of Moro, Joe McAllister, wife Liz of Beaverton.
