Marlin E. Rose, Jr., 76, of The Dalles, Ore., went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ while at home on Aug. 4, 2018. Marlin was born on May 9, 1942, in Johnstown, Pa., to Marlin E. Rose, Sr. and Mildred L. (Kleve) Rose, both of Johnstown.
He began dating the love of his life, Judi (Yoder) Rose in high school.
He graduated from Conemaugh Township High School in 1960 and then moved to Winona Lake, Ind., to attend Grace College, where he graduated in 1964. “Mar and Jud” continued dating long distance while he was in college and then married in Johnstown on June 20, 1964. He moved on to attend Grace Theological Seminary as well. During seminary, he worked at Chamness Funeral Home in Warsaw, Ind.
Marlin joined the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy and followed that by working as the town manager of Winona Lake, Ind. He then worked at Grace College as the director of the physical plant for many years. Marlin also worked at Keystone Designs of Warsaw, Ind., in the years prior to his final retirement.
Marlin’s hobbies included reading his Bible and other books, helping others, Facebook, attending grandchildren’s sporting events, hunting, and following the Tyler Junior College women’s soccer team. He had been an elder and deacon at Calvary Baptist Church since 2010. He was a member of the Lions Club and a steady volunteer at Camp Morrow.
Marlin is survived by wife Judi Rose; daughter Jennifer (Rose) Mathisen and her husband Jeff Mathisen; grandsons Connor, Kellen, Caden, and Krae; son Corey Rose and his wife Tammy (O’Connor) Rose; grandchildren Kennedy, Macguire, and Emerson.
Marlin was preceded in death by his father Marlin E. Rose, Sr. in 1994 and by his mother Mildred L. (Kleve) Rose in 1996.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at Calvary Baptist Church, 3350 Columbia View Drive The Dalles, Ore. 97058.
