Margarette Ann Chisholm entered eternal rest in San Antonio, Texas, on September 12, 2017, at the age of 85. She was born in The Dalles, Ore., to Otto and Emma Polehn on January 29, 1932, she is now reunited with both of her parents. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Roderick Chisholm; children, James Chisholm, Craig (Beth) Chisholm, Gary (Rumana) Chisholm; granddaughter April Chisholm; brothers, Marvin and Leo Polehn; and numerous other relatives.
Margarette received her undergraduate degree from Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska. She taught English and special education from the early 1950s until the 1990s. Margarette taught and mentored students in Oregon, California, Kansas, and Delaware.
She was the best mother a child could have and an all-around wonderful and caring person. Margarette enjoyed singing, theatre, friends, sewing, square dancing, polka dancing, and silly jokes.
A service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in The Dalles, Ore., at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017. Interment will follow in IOOF Cemetery.
