Lester Ray Jim, 64, started his final journey December 11, 2014. He was born in Redmond, Oregon to Howard & Maggie (Waters) Jim on October 27, 1950. Lester resided most of his life along the Mid Columbia River, where he has lived in Celilo Village, OR. He was an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation, band of the Wy-am. As a young man Lester attended Concho Boarding School in Oklahoma.
Lester was a cherished elder of his community, respected by all up and down the great Columbia River. Throughout his life he was an avid hunter and tribal fisherman, and will always be remembered for his lifetime commitment to his traditional way of life. His favorite things to do were not only hunting and fishing, but he also enjoyed traveling across the countryside,visiting his many friends and family across the Northwest.
Lester is survived by his family and friends; along with his brother and his loving sisters. His siblings include a brother Bronsco Jim of Goldendale, WA; and Sisters Rosita Wesley of Granger, WA; Arita Dave of Harrah, WA; Karen Whitford of Celilo Village, OR; Gloria Jim of Toppenish, WA; and Marcella Jim of Omak, WA. Lester was loved by many, including numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, along with all of his friends and family members that meant so much to him.
Lester was preceded in death by many people he loved dearly. Including his Father, Howard Jim and his loving Mother Maggie (Waters) Jim; along with his loving brother Ronald Jim and his sister Lucille Begay.
His final steps of his journey will start with the Dressing Service on Friday December 12, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Celilo Longhouse. Following the dressing services overnight services will start at 8:00 pm at the Celilo Longhouse. Services will be completed on Saturday December 13th with final services before he will depart at sunset for burial at Pine Creek Cemetery in Roosevelt, WA.
