Leonard D. Dave, Sr. of Murdock, Washington passed away on May 16, 2013 joining his wife of 31 years, Maxine V. Dave, who passed before him in 2004.
He is survived by numerous family members, including sisters Dorothy Sloan, Marlene Yallup, Shirley Polk, Sharon Telakish, Teresa Washines and Bobby Peters; sons Leonard Dave, Jr., Leon Dave, Randall Dave I and James Dave. Daughters Gloria Howe, Diane Pierre, Sandie Dave and Marie Crawford many grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many others listed below.
In 1972 Leonard and Maxine were married in Yakima Valley. Leonard become a big part of Maxine's family which included her children, stepchildren, and grandchildren into his life. These family members include; Dwight (deceased 2010), Dorothy, Lynda, Karen, Ralph, Robert (deceased 2012), Cheryl, Richard, Joleen, John (deceased 1987), Marianne & Cindy. The children of this marriage became his own and they learned throughout the years to be tradition keepers; always bringing their families together, in Leonard and Maxine's home, during holidays and other times; with children eager to see their grandparents at Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and summer visits throughout the last 40 years. They grew up, some already of age and with a little experience as hunters of deer, gatherers of berries and salmon fishers, continuing to learn and strengthen their ties of importance of family and the ways of living off of what they could catch, hunt or pick to help feed their families. Those members of Leonard and Maxine's immediate family, along with many of his in-laws, will miss his welcoming nature and wonderful smile. In their hearts they will keep many memories of camping, wood cutting, huckleberry picking and learning lessons of hunting, fishing and celebrating life; and will continue to share these traditions with their families.
His grandchildren were fortunate to have gotten to know their grandpa and learned from the times they spent in the mountains and/or on the Klickitat River or from the many visits with Grandpa Leonard; Jeff and Laura Lee Olson. David, Rick and Charlene Boyle. Ralph III, Daniel, and Randy Carstens. Roberta, Robert Jr. and Ben SwanSon. Corinne and Rebecca Carstens. Emily Carstens, Lapis Jean, Connie and Ben Emerson. Stephanie Carstens, Angela, Leona and Sheena Dave. Jennifer, Richard Jr., Marina and Ashlee Carstens. Anthony Carstens, Alisha, Moses and Sara Ibarra. Roger, Tessa LeMieux and Chris Carstens. Leonard also had many great grandchildren that got to know and love him or loved someone touched by him.
Leonard always included everyone whenever we celebrated Christmas in his and Maxine's home even if they weren't family or couldn't attend the celebration. He continued this tradition even after Maxine passed away. He was a kind, and loving family member whom we will miss greatly.
