Lawrence (Larry) Dare Wilde III of Big Lake, Alaska and The Dalles, Ore., passed away from cancer in The Dalles, Ore., on March 22, 2016.
Larry was born in Logan, Utah on June 23, 1946 to Elaine Faye Owens and Lawrence Dare Wilde Jr. Larry moved around a lot in his youth due to his father being an officer in the Air Force. Larry joined the Navy in 1969 and served in the Seabees. Larry moved his family to Alaska in 1976 and lived in the Big Lake area for fifteen years until they moved to The Dalles, Ore., in 1991.
Larry prided himself on being a teacher to others, a master gardener, and an excellent fisherman. He was quite the collector of hobbies and always had a project or two in the works. Larry willingly and enthusiastically helped others and was an excellent friend to have in a time of need.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine Owens Roylance, and his youngest brother, Gordon Wilde. He is survived by his loving wife, Wendy Wenberg, his father, Lawrence Wilde Jr., his stepmother, Claudia Wilde, his brothers, Alan and Ronald Wilde, his stepbrothers, Mark and Jon Munns, his stepsisters, Lindsey Jensen and Jessica Wilde Munns, his brother-in-law, Larry Wenberg (Joan Ross), the mother of his children, Shirley Hulburt Wilde, his seven children: Shelly Sanders (Rick), Misty Miller (Jamie), Sammi Wilde, Cadence Leavitt (Brad), Autumn Wilde-Garcia (David), Thayne Wilde (Annie), and Ireena Wilde Gee (Dave), thirty-one grandchildren, a variety of nieces and nephews, and his three best friends Buck Smith, Cliff Hampton, and Bob Tyler.
As he wished, Larry was cared for in the last weeks of his life by his wife, his daughters: Misty, Autumn, and Ireena, his son Thayne and his oldest granddaughter, Tiana Wilde. Larry died peacefully surrounded by loved ones and will be greatly missed as a husband, father and grandfather.
