Lavelle Dormaier was born to Bernis and Frances Guy on May 25, 1925. She passed away on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 90 years old at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland with her family by her side.
Lavelle went to school in Wasco, Ore. She then went to Portland to go to Northwest Business College. She met Albert Dormaier, who was working on his brother’s farm, and they married in September 1945. They moved to the grandparent’s farm outside of Wasco to work the wheat ranch and lived there for 5 years until they moved into town to the home their grandparents had once lived in. She worked for the Wasco Elementary School as a secretary and then in the summers drove truck during the harvest. Around the 70’s they moved to Portland and then to the desert in California where they lived until the death of her husband in 1992.
Lavelle remained in Cathedral City. She then went to work at McDonalds for 10 years from age 68 to 78, then moved in with her son in the Pearl District in 2005 to be near her family. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and the Ladies of the Moose Lodge. Surviving are Daughter Maxine of Portland, son Albert of Portland, daughter Arlene of Beaverton, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Per her request, there will be no services. Donations can be sent in her honor to Mooseheart Child City and School,, Mooseheart, Il, 60539 or Friendly House in Portland.
