Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Julie Bisset-Colby went home to Jesus Nov. 8, 2018, after battling ovarion cancer for 3½ years. Julie was born in The Dalles, Ore., in 1956. She attended St. Mary’s Academy until eighth grade and graduated from The Dalles High School in 1974. After high school she attended Eastern Oregon University earning a bachelor’s degree in business in 1978. In 1981 she met the love of her life, and future husband, Dave Colby, while skiing, with mutual friends on Mt. Hood. They were married in October of 1981, and she left the business world to become a fulltime mother.
In 1987, the family relocated to Kennewick, Wash. In 1995, Julie rejoined the work force and spent 23 years as library secretary “Mrs. Colby” to hundreds of children at Cascade Elementary School. It was an ideal job for someone who loved reading.
Julie had an adventuresome spirit and traveled to Europe with her college roommates when she was young and later white water rafted the major rivers of the northwest with her husband, Dave. She loved gardening, but flowers were her passion.
Julie was a woman of great faith and was active in the Four-Square Church in The Dalles and several ministries in the Tri-Cities; including the Kennewick chapter of Healing Rooms International, a very active home group, and numerous outreaches.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary (Henricks) Bisset of The Dalles. She is survived by her husband, Dave; and three boys, Alex (wife Amanda and son Zack) of San Antonio, Texas, Matt and Josh of Kennewick, Wash.; brother, Jack of Parkdale, Ore.; numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws and cousins.
She appreciated the very special love and support of her cousin, Kay and sister-in-law, Terri. Julie’s sweet spirit and passion for Jesus set her apart as someone very special. Her passing leaves a huge void in the lives of all who knew her.
