Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Clay was born in The Dalles Ore., to Richard Joseph and Wynne Mae Cheadle. He was raised in the Chenowith area with his brothers and sister; Shirley, Bill, Mike, Pat and Jay.
Clay loved adventures of all kinds. Hunting, playing pool and fishing with his brother Bill. He enjoyed his cats, yard work, spending time with friends and helping his neighbors with odd jobs. Over the years he developed another love for his bicycle, the "Hardly Davidson" he loved to ride it everywhere. He was a very talented artist, his drawings came alive and his paintings were beautifully done.
Clay never had children of his own but he had five step-children whom he loved like a true father. Mark, Chris, Becky, Deidra and Adam all had a special piece of his heart.
He had the ability to make you laugh at any given moment. He was a good brother, a loving son, a caring uncle and a friend to everyone. In the end, love and friendship was what he cherished the most.
He lost his battle to cancer on Saturday at 11:15 a.m. Next to him was niece, Gloria, brother, Bill and stepson, Mark.
A double memorial will be held at The Dalles Eagles Lodge on Oct. 27, noon, 2006 W. 7th St. The Dalles, Ore.
Donations to help the family cover costs will be accepted at the memorial.
