Janice Darlene Johnson, 68, a resident of Sherwood, Ore. for 28 years, died at her home on August 8, 2015.
She was born on September 14, 1946 in Grand Forks, N.D., the fourth of five children to Berto A. and Bernice Serena (Tweden) Hovet. She was raised near Thompson, N.D., graduating from Thompson High School in 1964.
She lived in Illinois where she met Stuart Johnson, and on Sept. 1, 1968 they were married in Naperville, Ill. Jan earned her college degree from Northern Illinois University in 1980 and worked as a technical writer for consumer products. She enjoyed her pets and gardening and was a member of Sherwood Bible Fellowship.
She is survived by her four siblings, Marilyn Dehning and husband Bill of West Linn, Ore., Terrance Hovet and wife Ursula of Thompson, N.D., Bette Nelson and husband Terry of The Dalles, Ore., and Renee Olson and husband Donn of Wyoming, Minn., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, nephew Marty Dehning and niece Bridgette Nelson.
Viewing visitation will be on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, August 15 at 11 am at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home with graveside services following at Odd Fellows Threemile Cemetery in The Dalles, Ore.
