James E. Jackson

James E. “Jim” Jackson, 93, a long-time resident of The Dalles, passed away peacefully at a local care facility on April 30, 2016. Jim was born on October 4, 1922 to Floyd B. Jackson and Katherine (Small) Jackson in Coffeeville, Kansas. He spent most of his youth in Kansas and graduated from The Dalles High School in 1940. While still in high school, Jim joined the National Guard and later went on to serve in the 41st Infantry Division.

Upon leaving the military in 1945 he went on to work for the S.P & S. Railroad. Jim married Thelda R. Beyer on May 5, 1946 in Stevenson, Wash. The couple resided in Wishram, Wash., for many years before moving to The Dalles in 1961. Jim was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the local Chapter of Gideon’s International, The Dalles Gun Club, and was a very proud member of the NRA.
