Iva Mae Frantz was born in Esbon, Kan., on Jan. 8, 1931, to Carl and Pauline Kniesteadt. Iva was the eldest of five children. She grew up in The Dalles, Ore., where she met and married her husband George in 1948. They celebrated 68 years of marriage before George passed away in 2016. They raised three daughters.
During her lifetime, Iva worked as a private bookkeeper until she became office manager for Prudential Distributors in Spokane, Wash. until her retirement. She was a member of The Business Women’s Association and Welcome Wagon. Iva enjoyed reading, playing cards and cruising.
She is survived by her daughters Susan (Jim) Kappen, Julie (Tom) Overhauser and Kim (Jim) Kasey; six grandsons; one granddaughter; six great-grandchildren; brother, Rex Kniesteadt of The Dalles, Ore., and sister, Barbara Johnson-Nizdil of West Linn, Ore. She was preceded in death by sisters Opal Manchester and Dawn Bowerman.
Funeral Services for Iva were held on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church at 11 a.m., entombment will be held at 2 p.m. at Fairmount Mausoleum.
