Harry Abrams, 89, a resident of The Dalles, Ore., died Saturday, July 27, 2013, at a local care center.
He was born Dec. 14, 1923 in Kendrick, Idaho, to Andrew and Stella (Eatmon) Abrams and was raised and educated in the Underwood and White Salmon, Wash., area.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army.
On June 25, 1952, he and Imogene Rike were married. They had four children, Grover, Glenda, Gloria and Gwen.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved taking long drives with the family, telling stories and visiting with his old friends. For many years he was involved in the Scouting program at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Imogene Abrams, and his four children and their spouses, a brother Fred Abrams, 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Stella, and siblings Dorothy, Bertha, Betty, Frank and Andy.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 3, at 2 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 15th and Oregon, with viewing beginning at 1 p.m.
Military honors will be provided by the Oregon Funeral Honors Team.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at the I.O.O.F. 18th Street Cemetery.
