Gertrude “Gertie” Mary Brice, age 106, passed away March 22, 2017. She was born in Bay City, Mich., to Samuel and Mary Leonard. She was a resident of The Dalles, Ore., for over 50 years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. While in The Dalles, she made baby hats and donated them to Mid-Columbia Medical Center for the new born infants. She also made hats and scarfs for the homeless and donated them to St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Huntington, Ind. She moved from The Dalles on June 6, 2007, to Heritage Pointe retirement center in Warren, Ind., where she resided until her passing.
She was proceeded in death by five brothers and three sisters. She was the youngest of nine children. She is survived by her daughter; Connie (Gene) Leach, of Columbus, Ohio; grandson Alan Leach, of Waialua, Hawaii; granddaughter Consetta (Tim) Schmidt of Warren Ind.
She is also survived by nephews: Mike (Karen) Brice of The Dalles; Ronald Brice (Tracy Burbank) and Donald (Dessie) Brice of Washington.
She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, Ind., 46750 where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 31, 2017, at 10 a.m. Inurnment will take place at the Red Men Cemetery in Warren.
