Dorman “Butch” Allison Butcher, 96, a resident of Wamic for 66 years, passed away at his home on Monday, August 1, 2016.
He was born on December 27, 1919, the oldest of five children to William Robert and Bessie (Potter) in Valley, Wisc., where he grew up and graduated from high school. He later moved to Portland, where he met and married Meretta June (Shird) on October 31, 1947. Butch made his living as a timber faller and carpenter. He was member of White River Christian Fellowship and enjoyed hunting, fishing and community volunteering.
Butch is survived by his two children and their spouses, Kathi and Mark Peterson and Steven and Wanita Butcher, all of Tygh Valley; his 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; and his siblings, Cleo Butcher of California and Belva Hudnell of Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Meretta Butcher.
Memorials services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to White River Christian Fellowship, PO Box 11, Tygh Valley, OR 97063.
