Doris Jane Alley

Doris went to join her savior after a long and happy life. She died at St. Charles Hospital in Bend, Ore. Doris was born in Mitchell (Scottsbluff, County) Neb. She was the fifth of 6six children born to Purl and Mary Campbell. Doris and her family moved from Nebraska to Klamath Falls Ore. Doris went to grade school in Klamath and graduated from Klamath Falls High School in 1953. She continued her education at Oregon Technical Institute where she majored in nursing. During her college experience, she met her future husband and mate for life Douglas Alley.

Doris and Doug were married on June 18, 1955, in Klamath Falls. They moved to the family farm outside of Moro, Ore., joining Doug’s parents Paul and Pauline Alley. Doug and Doris immediately began building their “new” home, “the old schoolhouse,” to start their family. One year later they had moved into their new Alley Ranch home where they remained the rest of their lives. That home raised and harbored their four children: Deb, Ardena, Diane and Dwight. Doris took an active role as partner in the farm and as a wife, loving mother, and dear friend to the community of Sherman County. As the kids grew up Doris was one of the first moms who would organize a class party, chaperone a field trip and drive the car pools. Since the Alley kids were farm kids, their mom became their 4-H leader and their biggest fan. Doris was a huge athletic supporter and enjoyed being a gymnastic judge, working track meets and keeping the scorebooks at baseball games.
