Dean Morrison Wilcox, MD passed away on April 19, 2016 at the age of 88.
A patriarch in every sense of the word, he is survived and deeply mourned by his wife of 66 years, Beryl Schantz Wilcox, his children, Dean (Fern), Gigi (Rex), Robin (Jim), Eric (Sue), Jennifer and Maria
(Griff) and his seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was sadly predeceased by his daughter, Susan.
Dean Wilcox retired from the Naval Reserve as a Lieutenant Commander and was awarded full military honors. Graduating from University of Oregon Medical School in 1955, he maintained a full 'general' practice in The Dalles, Ore., for 35 years. His were the first hands to touch 1481 babies born in the Mid-Columbia region during that time. He was an avid outdoorsman; working harvest on his wheat farm in Grass Valley, riding Cycle Oregon, and running marathons and Hood to Coast. He also was committed to public service, as a school board member, planning commissioner, member of various budget committees and Trustee Emeritus of his beloved Pacific University. He lived at Mary's Woods and they, too had become his family. The halls will be quieter, absent his deep voice raised up in song. His passing has left a huge hole in our hearts that will never be filled.
"In the morning sunrise, when all the world is new, Just look for me and love me, as you know I loved you."
