Darrin Thomas Williams passed away peacefully at his mother’s home in The Dalles, OR on Friday, October 17, 2014, after complications of a 29-year battle with diabetes. He was born on August 29, 1975, in Selma, Alabama, to James Garvis Williams and Patricia Elizabeth Hyde Williams. The family moved to The Dalles from Alabama just after Darrin’s fifth birthday.
Darrin graduated from The Dalles High School in 1994. He volunteered with Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue during high school and shortly after he graduated from the International Air Academy in Portland in 1997, working for Delta Airlines in Seattle, Washington. In searching for his “fit” Darrin also worked for ADT, Burns Security and the US Army Corps of Engineers. He held various jobs in the food industry, which was his main area of interest and his favorite hobby. Darrin married Karissa Putman in June of 2002. They were married for twelve years and had one daughter. He loved his family dearly.
Darrin was preceded in death by his father in 2009, and is survived by his family members: daughter, Cymoril Elizabeth Williams, Vancouver, WA; spouse, Karissa Putman, Vancouver, WA; stepson, Tyler William Parrish, Hermiston, OR; mother Patricia Elizabeth Hyde Williams (Michael Stewart), The Dalles; brothers, Eric Andrew Williams (Lori), Olympia, WA and Charles Jason Williams (Annette), Shelbyville, TN; stepbrother, Travis Stewart (KT), Bend, OR; stepsister, Allison Hull Stewart, Salem, OR; grandparents Bill and Lola Hyde, Florence, Alabama, as well as an abundance of nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins across the US, and many close friends.
Darrin served as a young adult leader at Living Water Church in Stanfield, Oregon, and went on several mission trips, including one to Mexico and one to Japan. He loved trying exciting new foods and would try any variety offered. Darrin loved his cat JACK. He enjoyed listening to talk radio and the Dave Matthews Band, but he REALLY loved his Alabama football. RRLL TIDE!
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 11:00 a.m. at Spooky’s in The Dalles, OR. Feel free to wear your football jerseys or colors, at Darrin’s request. (BYOP - buy your own pizza).
