Cheryl Elaine Carter, age 74, passed away in her sleep on April 29, 2018, at her home in Mosier, Ore. Cheryl was born March 12, 1944, in Eugene, Ore., the daughter of Ernest H. and Dorothy M. Carter.
Cheryl enjoyed spending quality time with her family. She loved Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton and western/criminal shows. She was raised in Mosier where she attended school and graduated. In her early 20’s Cheryl married her first husband. In 1973, she remarried and spent most of her life caring for others, thereafter she spent the remainder of her life continuing to be a loving mother to 5, grandmother to 11, and great-grandmother to 14.
She is survived by siblings David Carter, Bonnie Louks, Sandy McBride, Jane Maul, Larry Carter, and Patsy Alcorn; daughters and their husbands Gail and Eddie Mehrer and their children April, Eddie (Dancy) and Tressa; Cynthia Henley and her children Robert (Rebecca), Chris and Nicholas R; Sara Tillitt and son David; Robin and Scott Jackson and their children Elizabeth (Emilio), Timothy, Elijah and Savannah. She also leaves behind numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert Henley; sister Roseanne Jacob; brother Robert Carter; daughter Aleathia, and son-in-law Tory Christensen.
There will be a memorial service held at the Mosier Grange Hall, 900 4th Street, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 26. Memorial donations can be made to “Memorial for Cheryl Carter” at Columbia Bank.
