Barbara Jean Parmentier of Paisley died at Lakeview Gardens on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the age of 81. She was born to Walter and Mabel (Johnson) Kracht in Jamestown, N.D. on October 3, 1934.
Barbara married Vernon Parmentier on November 13, 1951 in N. Bonneville, Wash.
Her work experience was quite varied, which included several odd jobs before working at Ted Walker’s Cleaners, the Wonder Bread Thrift Store and then as a security guard at John Day Dam.
While living in The Dalles, she was a member of the Moose Lodge and served as Chaplain in the American Legion. After moving to Paisley she was a member of the Paisley Vips and attended the Paisley Methodist Church.
Barbara was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Courtney, N.D. on July 3, 1949.
Barbara enjoyed life and she especially enjoyed camping with her little dog “Misty”, traveling, reading, cooking, quilting and taking care of family and friends.
She is survived by sister, Carol Kracht of Salem, Ill.; granddaughter, Barbara Harrison; great-grandchildren, Jason and Chyna and her many wonderful friends in Paisley and The Dalles. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon in 1991 and daughter, Carol Caudill in 1999 and brother, Lenard (Butch) Kracht.
A funeral service will be held in the Paisley Community Center on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 2 p.m. followed by a finger food reception.
