The Columbia Art Gallery will hold an artists’ reception Friday evening to open its April show, “The Many Moods of Spring.”
The event will be held during First Friday, April 5, from 6-8 p.m., and will feature music by Diane Allen and Donna Reuter.
The show, curated by Bill Sturman, will be on display until April 28.
Sixteen artists were challenged to create two pieces of art of the same subject but with different moods. The contrasting moods represent the dark/wild side of spring, and the light/tame side.
Mediums include oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor and photography. Participating artists are Laurie Black, Brian Chambers, Nathan Clements, Gwen Good, Rhonda Harris, Georgette Jones, Christine Knowles, Arlene Larison, Peggy Olson, Mary Preston, Katey Price, Cathleen Rehfeld, Bill Sturman, Denise Vance, Karen Watson and Hank Weber.
In addition to the show, Columbia Art Gallery will be featuring glass artist Charlene Fort in its Nook space. Fort is a glass artist from Hood River who specializes in hand-blown glass art, lamp-worked beads and fused jewelry.
Other new work in the gallery includes glass by Leila Prestia and acrylics by J. Neils Harvey.
