Hood River Valley senior Kai Wagner will lead a group of mid- and long-distance runners for HRV.

HOOD RIVER — Hood River Valley senior Kai Wagner held off a stellar field and set a school record with his win in the 3000-meter run at the April 25 Jesuit Twilight Relays. Wagner ran the seven and a half laps in 8 minutes, 37.04 seconds to break the HRV all-time mark in the event of 8:40.89 set by Elliot Hawley in 2023. The Relays, in their 25th installment, also featured some national-caliber distance races as teams from the Western United States and beyond gathered. Wagner’s training partner, Logan King, was in one of those races — the 3200 meters. King ran a personal best, 8:42.69 3000, enroute to a 9:14.87 3200 (also a school record).

Hood River had five other athletes compete at Jesuit. Freshman Savina Davis ran a personal best 4:46.51 1500, which is No. 4 on the HRV all-time list for that event. Distance teammate Syl Perrin also moved up to No. 4 in the school’s 3000 list with her personal best of 10:28.77.
