THE DALLES — The No. 16-ranked The Dalles High Riverhawks (2-2 Tri-Valley Conference, 11-7 overall) snapped a two-game losing streak and recorded two Class 4A Tri-Valley victories last week.
The Riverhawks earned a 60-52 home win, Jan. 28 over the Gladstone High Gladiators (1-3 TVC, 6-12 overall). The Riverhawks then notched a second straight victory at home Jan. 30, 63-48 over the Estacada High Rangers (1-3 TVC, 8-9 overall).
The Riverhawks led 9-8 after a low-scoring first quarter and 24-23 at halftime. The Riverhawks outscored the Rangers 39-25 in the second half to get a double-digit victory for the fifth time this season.
Sophomore Oliver Stevens led the Riverhawks in scoring with 22 points. Junior Derek Goulart was also in double figures with 16 points.
With five games left in the regular season, the Riverhawks are currently in third place in the six-team league standings; the top three teams advance to the playoffs. The Riverhawks are seeking to reach the state playoffs for the first time in two years.
The Riverhawks were seeking a third straight victory in a Feb. 4, road game versus the Molalla High Indians (1-3 TVC, 7-10 overall). The Riverhawks play Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. against the league leading, No. 3 ranked Crook County High Cowboys (4-0 TVC, 12-6 overall) at Crook County High School in Prineville.
