Who are the Hood River Crag Rats? Come to the Hood River Library Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. to learn the history and activities of the Hood River Crag Rats, presented by their historian, Bill Pattison.

Founded in 1926, the Hood River Crag Rats are the oldest search and rescue organization in the United States. The Crag Rats still wear the signature black-and-white checkered shirts that they have worn since the 1920s, and are still active in search and rescue operations on Mount Hood, the Columbia River Gorge, and elsewhere.
