Hood River Valley outfielder Molly Routson and The Dalles catcher Maddie Troutt were named to the Oregon Class 5A all-state softball team by a vote of coaches.
HRV frosh Sienna Davis was an honorable mention pick as an infielder.
Maddie Troutt broke a 9-all tie with a two-out RBI single to score Emma Smith as part of a four-run bottom of the sixth inning, and Kilee Hoylman escaped a late rally attempt with a strikeout and a fly out with the tying run at third base in The Dalles’ 10-9 second-game comeback victory over Hood River Valley in IMC softball action Friday from 16th Street Ballpark. The Dalles softball team dominated Washougal, 11-0, and salvaged a home doubleheader split with 6A Bend Friday, taking a 3-0 win and a 19-10 loss at 16th Street Ballpark.
After Wednesday’s 9-0 victory over Mountain View, The Dalles softball team is riding a nice little streak at the right time. The stakes are raised even higher now, especially with Columbia River Conference action coming up this Friday.
The Sandy Pioneers erased a 9-3 deficit with five runs in the fifth inning and tacked on three in the sixth to defeat The Dalles softball team by a 12-9 margin Monday in varsity softball action at Sandy High School.
Facing a state-qualifying 6A Liberty, The Dalles had very little margin for error if they planned to win. The Falcons took advantage of a few late miscues to break open a 5-all tie in the bottom of the seventh inning for the 6-5 triumph Wednesday in a softball contest played at Hillsboro Stadium.
There was a valuable lesson learned from last season. The Dalles softball seniors Emma Weir, Jodi Thomasian and Kathryn Bradford all have the mindset of moving forward and not looking back.
Still with the bitter taste in their mouths from a runner-up finish at the ASA State Championships, the Troutdale Rainbows left nothing to chance last weekend in Newberg. The Bows amassed a perfect 8-0 record, capped by an 8-4 triumph against Seattle FC to capture first place at the 2017 NAFA Nationals 14U ‘B’ Championships, ending Sunday at the Crater Complex.
