The Hattenhauer Distributing Columbia Gorge Hustlers baseball team is on a roll and they’re gaining momentum toward their goal of winning a championship at the American Legion state tournament in two weeks.
As of Friday, the Hustlers had won 11 straight to improve to 23-2. After playing seven games in six days, including five home contests, the team took time off to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday.
It wasn’t a good day for Gorge boys soccer teams from Hood River Valley and The Dalles high schools as both lost in the first round of the Class 5A state playoffs Wednesday.
After a seventh inning rally fell short last Tuesday in Pendleton, the HRV baseball team traveled to The Dalles on Friday, May 11 for a chance to sweep the season series versus the Riverhawks in the final conference game of the season.
After a 2-0 start, the HRV football team have dropped their final six games of the season, including their most recent loss to Summit on the road 44-7.
Another successful doubleheader was had by the HRV baseball team this weekend, who took down the Pendleton Buckaroos 12-9 in the first game and 4-2 in the second on the road Saturday thanks to standout performances by the Eagles’ go-to guys, as well as athletes whose names don’t often appear at the top of the stat sheets.
