The trio of HGTV stars will “each mentor a two-person team of promising renovators as they vie to transform lackluster beachfront vacation properties — and the biggest homes in Battle on the Beach history — into stunning waterfront escapes that deliver top reviews and top dollar,” per Season 5’s description. “Armed with $100,000, seven weeks and invaluable advice from their respected mentors, the teams will overhaul the dated digs while navigating unprecedented design challenges, including repurposing discarded roadside finds in their homes and swapping partners for the chance at additional prize money.”
Renovation Aloha stars Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama will serve as judges on the new season and will determine which team’s designs increase the overall rental value of their spaces each week. They will also present the winners with the option to take home $3,000 right away or apply $6,000 toward the total grand prize.
“When the stunning renos are complete, the team who clinches the highest peak season rate for their short-term rental will claim a cash prize of at least $50,000, with their mentor boasting ultimate bragging rights,” the season’s description states.

Season 5’s two-hour premiere will see Pennington, Kleinschmidt, and Baeumler task their teams with creating the perfect ocean-front living room. Before the renovation begins, a kick-off challenge will determine which team gets to select the house they want to design and which properties to assign to their competitors.
This season’s contestants include spouses Steven and Angelina Jacobs from Waterbury, Connecticut, spouses Josiah and Anna Julian from Baltimore, Maryland, and mother-daughter duo Michelle Mueller and Sydney Lorence from Lincoln, Nebraska.
News of Battle on the Beach‘s return comes nearly one year after former star Alison Victoria announced that the series had been canceled. “It’s a lot of content to try to put into 42 minutes, but where is it, like, where’s the great editing? You’ll lose a show that way, I truly believe that,” she said of the show losing its humor on a July 2025 episode of her Pap Smear Podcast. “And Battle on the Beach did not get picked back up, which is sad because it was like adult spring break.”
She added, “Battle on the Beach was like my adult spring break, and that got canceled.”
Fans shared their excitement for the show’s return on HGTV’s Instagram page. “Heck yeah!! Can’t wait to watch,” one user commented underneath a post about the new season. Another added, “Team @mikamakesmoves for the win!!!”
