Hood River Adult Softball League teams, including Wayback Wednesday, in blue, and Hood River Homies, in gray, waited until clear skies on Saturday and Sunday to get in the week’s games, postponed due to smoke from the usual Monday-Tuesday schedule. Errant throws to first, dicey infield catches, and a shortstop looking a runner back to first were all part of the fun at Collins Field in Hood River. Games continue this week and the teams are looking ahead to the second annual single-elimination championship tournament on Oct. 3-4. Brew Crushers are looking to defend their 2019 title, and all teams are crossing their fingers to avoid the heavy rains from a year ago that created swamp-like conditions at Collins Field.
