Columbia High's girls soccer team will be on the road for the remainder of the 2004 season.
The Bruins, currently second in Trico Division standings, close out regular-season play with a Trico Division match at Ridgefield today, Oct. 28, that kicks off at 4 p.m.
On Monday, Columbia travels to Hoquiam for a first-round match of the SW Washington District 4 2A playoffs that is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
CHS's opponent, most likely, will be Winlock/Toledo (11-4), which entered the final week of the regular season as the third-place team in the Evergreen Division of the SW Washington 2A/1A League.
This season, SW Washington has five berths to the state 2A tournament, which gets underway Wednesday, Nov. 10, and concludes the weekend of Nov. 19-20 at Lakewood High School.
The two division champions--Ridgefield of the Trico and either Onalaska/Napavine or Montesano of the Evergreen--automatically qualify for the state playoffs.
Each division's second- and third-place teams will battle for the three remaining spots.
If it wins next Monday, Columbia will play next Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Camas High School for an automatic state berth (third or fourth).
Should they lose, the Bruins will play at 4 p.m. at Camas in loser-out match for the fifth and final position.
